Hizb al-Tahrir is an Islamic political party. It was founded in Jordan by Taqi-al-Din al-Nabhani, a Palestinian, in 1952. The party`s aim is to reestablish the Islamic caliphate in the Islamic world by dismantling all current Islamic governments and countries because they are infidel governments and countries bereft of Islamic law. The party works in great secrecy and exists in limited numbers in Islamic countries, where its members are hounded by the security services.
